1989 Rand McNally Hawaii Western Islands
This interesting reproduction of the original lithographic “Map of Hawaii” was originally published in 1898 by Rand, McNally & Co. This map shows the distances between the Hawaiian Islands and various locations on the Pacific Rim. Published before the era of air transport, the Hawaii shown here could only be visited by the most intrepid and wealthy tourist. The geological features of the Hawaiian volcanoes are excellently portrayed. Also note the inset of the Western Islands of Hawaii, including Kauai and Niihau. This map was printed the same year that Hawaii became part of the United States.
